'New' China

Awhile back, like mid-February, we made a trip to Jacksonville and 'recovered' a few things from MIL's (and by default, now SIL's) storage building. Since we had already brought the few big things (one of which is the white cabinet in my breakfast area) we wanted earlier, I didn't bring much back but I thought I would show you one of the things I rescued. There was this whole set of china that nobody else was interested in so I brought it home to live with us.

Isn't it pretty? It stayed on the cart in the kitchen just like this for over a month. It is just so pretty to look at.  I finally decided, for safety, I should find a place to store it. (That is how I found 'Too Cute For Pie') Anywho - it is now safely tucked away but easy to get to when I want to use it. Our everyday dishes consist of Fiesta Ware and paper plates along with some mix and match pieces of china I have picked up at antique shops here and there.
There are a couple more things but I will save them to show later.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

2016 Get-away

Last weekend (18-20) was the annual 3 Stitches get-away. As usual we had a blast. The girlfriends and I have been trying to figure out how many times we have been - I think we settled on either 11 or 12. I need to gather all of my project bags and see if I can figure it out for sure.

These are the projects we had for the weekend. These are NOT my projects but the finished samples we had to look at while we were stitching. The one in the middle closes up to look like a slice of cake. Too cute. That is the piece I'm stitching on at the moment. I tend to not get a lot of stitching done at the retreat.

As we left for dinner
Saturday night there was a herd of deer grazing in the field across from our cabin - they were still there when we returned so I snapped a few pics. I know they are hard to see but I was using my phone and didn't want to get closer for fear of scaring them away. There had to be well over a dozen.

This is my haul from the weekend. We always have a gift exchange which is where some of the stuff came from. The colorful cake plates, the cute little shoe (destined to become a pin cushion) and the flower arrangement were some of the door prizes I came home with and the threads are the colors we stitched with over the weekend. I also scored a gift certificate to 3 Stitches which I plan to use this coming weekend during the stores anniversary celebration!

I tried to be good at the Saturday night shopping frenzy but I did come home with a new magnet for my collection - the crown in the center (didn't have it in pink to match the one on my ankle so I went for the clear over the red. blue or green) I bought the tiny scissors on the right and the other pair was with our projects. I'm about to run out of room on my magnet board - I need to start looking for another one. (I have some plain jane ones I use for patterns while I'm stitching and of course I use my magnets on those too, but I'm getting quite the collection. They are just so pretty!)

I'm already signed up for next year. Can't say thank you enough to Pam @ 3 Stitches for all the time and effort she puts into making this such a special weekend!

After all the playing my house is screaming for some attention so I better get busy!

Time flies

I showed you a picture of  baby boy and his bride on their wedding day, thought I would show you a more current picture. This one was taken when they were here for Christmas. They have grown up in so many ways over the past 9 years and we are so proud of them. They met in middle school, dated through high school, married while in college then moved off to New York to pursue their dreams.
I love that Ashley still looks at Jason the same way she did all those years ago. She loves my baby boy and I love her.

Mr cutie pie is back

He went missing about three years ago when I couldn't find him after Christmas. (I keep him out all year except for at Christmas) I've looked high and low. Gone through all the Christmas boxes every year. Looked through my stack of framed, but not hung, pictures. Looked in the bottom of the hutch (which is where I thought it was) several times. This week I was cleaning out some stuff in that cabinet and actually stuck my head in there too look instead of just peeking and feeling around and dang if I didn't find Mr. Cutie right where I thought he should have been all along! The way he was standing in there I couldn't see him until I stuck my head in to make sure I wasn't missing something.Yes, I should clean out more often!  I'm glad to have him back - one of my favorite pieces!

Hope you have a awesome weekend!

What a rock!

Yes, I know it's March but I haven't shown you what my friend, Monica, gave me for Christmas - a big pink diamond! :) I've got it holding down papers on my desk. She gave me the lovely book also. The best part of the gift is the inscription she wrote on the inside of the book. We don't get to see each other often enough because of, well, life, but when we get together it seems as if no time has gone by at all.

We have rain, rain, rain here today, Hope you are having a beautiful day wherever you are!

Mama's got a brand new bag.

Came home last night and found this bag in my stitching chair! Hubby thought I needed a 'leap day' gift. Just in time to take to the upcoming stitching get-away!
 I think I'll keep him. :)

In other news - I made a new scissor fob the other day and now I've lost the leather cover for this pair of scissors. I was using them yesterday and never left my stitching chair with the scissors but dang if I can find that cover. I've looked under the cushion, ran my hand all around the chair, Looked underneath the chair as well as the side table and that little sucker is no where to be found. It is possible that if it fell to the floor one of the doggies found it and had a nice little snack. Or - it could just show up again. Would be the first time for either to happen.

Off for my morning walk! Love this weather!
