19th Annual 3 Stitches Get-a-way

This past weekend was the annual 3 Stitches get-a-way. The girlfriends and I have attended the last 13 (we didn't know about it before) Can anything be more fun than 40 ladies who love to stitch getting together for a weekend? Lots of laughter. Pam does an awesome job of making sure everyone has a good time.

The theme this year was English Tea. (these are the finished models - not my personal stitching) There is a mug rug (though I don't think I would actually put a cup of tea on it after all that stitching!) The 'book' has pockets on the inside to hold tea bags. The scissor fob has a Tudor rose on one side (there are two different ways to finish the fob) The basket topper also has Tudor roses on it. I feel like I am missing something here. Anyway - we have the charts along with everything needed to finish each project as shown.

I had some kind of brain freeze going on and couldn't seem to count so I think I could have stitched this thing 3 times if I hadn't had to keep taking stitches out. This is the top for the basket in the picture (she gave us the basket to go along with it - not sure when I will get it 'finished' but at least the stitching is done).

Some of the stuffs I came home with

In addition to the stitching supplies we always get goodies. You can't really tell in the picture but the blue beads area on a trolley needle and the little shiny spot beside it is a teacup needle minder.  The smaller tea pot is a tape measure! The green paper is a gift certificate to 3 Stitches

Some of the stuffs I bought at the Saturday night shopping event. She brings a limited number of some of the items  but takes orders if there is something you want and don't snag it up quick enough - I have some stuff on order :)

We have a gift exchange on Saturday morning - this framed picture was what I received. Right now it is sitting on the fireplace - haven't decided where to hang it yet.

There is always several rounds of door prizes - I won this flower arrangement in the last round on Sunday morning.

This beautiful glass leaf was another door prize. I'm thinking I might use it for fruit.

More door prizes - I need to rearrange my glass front cabinets to make room for my new teapot and vintage teacup.

The local quilt guild was having their annual quilt show Friday and Saturday so we stopped by there before leaving town and I picked up this little pin cushion.

All in all, it was a great weekend! Already looking forward to next year!

A few pictures

I've been waiting ever since we moved in to see what color my azaleas are and they have finally started blooming! They are all pink!
There are 4 bushes but there is an empty spot where it looks like there should be another plant but I didn't want to plant one until I knew what color the others were.

Now that they are all budded out I can make a trip to the nursery. We also had some kind of grassy looking stuff (don't know what it is called) that we didn't like so hubby dug those up a couple of weeks ago (and killed a snake in the process!) I want to plant some hydrangeas in that spot.

I haven't got a lot of cross stitching done lately as I have been working on a couple of quilts. I'm almost finished with the binding on this one then I have 18 yo-yos to sew on. The other one is the same pattern but different fabrics - it is finished except for the yo-yos. They are both gifts so I'll show them once they have been delivered to their new homes. I took a short break on the quilts to work on another sewing project - I'll show that soon too.

Once I finish the quilts I'll get back to stitching. It's time to get geared up for the stitching get-away - it's only two weeks away!

My screen just went dim so I better sign off and go put this computer on to charge.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

No stitching pictures

I don't have any stitching pictures to show but I do have a few pictures!

This time last week we were on our way to Dallas! We met up with friends for lunch and a little visiting before heading to downtown Dallas for a the long-awaited Bon Jovi concert! It is really hard to get good pictures - especially when you have a big-headed man standing in front of you. I had to do the bob and weave to see and I was more into enjoying the show than trying to take pictures. From beginning to end, it was a great show - I can't wait until the next one!
Since today happens to be Mr. Bongiovi's birthday, lets all sing happy birthday!
