Who turned on the heat?

I'm not sure exactly how warm it got today but I had my own little tropical not-so-paradise going on. I guess it was a day-long hot flash with a side of migraine that didn't start to back off until nearly 5:00 this evening. But enough about that. I've got to start getting on here more often - if for no other reason than once I find something and figure out how to do it, it gets changed and I have to figure it out all over again. I am so not tech-savvy

Anyway - after I made quilts for all the kids for Christmas I just didn't have the time to make another one for the hubby so I made him one for our anniversary. I took it with me to the 3 Stitches get-a-way and sewed the label on it. All the time I was working on it he never figured out it was for him.

As usual, I can't name the fabrics since some of them have been in my stash for a couple of years but the pattern is from the book Simplify by Camille Roskelley. As you can see, it is a large throw size - he is hiding behind it while holding it up for the photo, just right for him to use to take a snooze in his recliner (though he doesn't need it today!)

I will try to get some pictures of the get-a-way up soon. My camera died before I took the first photo so I am having to get them off my phone before I can post them. Also, I usually try to take a picture of all my goodies when I get home but some of it has been put away already - I'll try to round up what I can and get some pictures with the camera. (battery has been charged!) There is always a theme to the get-a-way that no one knows except Pam - this year was Simple Pleasures and Pam did an awesome job. Loads of fun and lots of goodies!

Spring's a coming!

I'm still trying to figure out where everything is on my computer - pictures are not loading in the same folder they were before so I'm having too find then and copy them to where I know where they are. Hopefully Timothy can find some time to help me soon or I'll just keep poking around and hope I don't make things worse. All the really important stuff (minus a few photos that i didn't take) are here, I just have to look for them or download them again since they are still on my camera. All the essentials are working for now so I'm not complaining - just sayin that's how it is. Back up people! Says the person who hasn't backed up since getting back up and running. :)

If you could see my car you would say spring is here. It used to be gray - now it is a nasty yellow-green color!

 Anyway - i went out back last week and took a couple of pictures of the trees we planted - was it last year or the year before?

 We had a few cold snaps this winter and I was afraid they would bite the dust but I was surprised to see the little blooms on them.

a few days later they started sprouting leaves! 

I'm kinda wanting to get out and do some yard work but the time and money budget are tapped out at the moment and by the time I get around to it it will probably be blistering hot. That is what you get in Texas - usually one extreme or the other (sometimes in the same day!) Yesterday I went out and gave a look see to see if anything else is coming back. Some of it I am going to have to wait until it gets a little bigger before I decide if it is a weed to pull or a flower to leave be.

I've been working on a few quilting and stitching projects that I can't show pictures of yet so stay tuned! Hubby is taking next week off - it is our anniversary but we have no plans - just going to fly bythe seat of our pants and see what happens - we may do some things that need to be done around here or we might get out and do something who knows, so I don't know if I will spend any time at the computer or not, but I'll be back soon! I'm also painfully addicted to pinterest If I spent as much time actually making stuff as I do looking at it I would have bunches of stuff to show!

Enjoy the pleasant weather - we all know come about July we will all be complaining about the heat - and I'll be the one yelling the loudest.

 I finally got a picture to load! Hubby brought these flowers home to me on Valentines Day, the have long since wilted and been discarded but it is the only picture I can find on my computer. I downloaded a bunch of photos but I don't know where they went. Before they always downloaded into the same folder but they aren't there and I haven't had a lot of time to look around and figure out what changed and how to change it back. 

Anyway - we have been back and forth with this crazy weather. Enough already either stay cold or bring on spring. This having two seasons in one day is getting quite old!

I did get Bertha all cleaned up and ready to start a new project - I hope to get to work on it some this weekend but who knows what will be going on here then. 

Hope you are all getting lots of crafting/stitching/sewing done! I hope to get back to reading blogs soon too, can't wait to see what you have been up to - I just need more hours in the day. Wish I was one of those people who can function on a few hours sleep a night, but sadly I'm not. 

Now I am going to fire up the glue gun and get another project done that has been on the to do list. I'll show pictures - eventually!

Maybe, maybe not

I have no idea what is going on with this friggin computer. I can find my old photos as long as I'm not in blogger but then I can't find them to use one. I downloaded a few new ones off my camera and uploaded them to post but it sticks at 'add selected photos' and won't do anything except completely exit.
I think I may just be too old for this stuff. (and no that is not the word I want to use there) Maybe over the weekend I can figure out where the heck everything went to and can get back to posting but after an hour and a half at it today this is all I've got.
I'm going to try to fix a mistake on a quilt now. I hope it isn't as complicated!

uh-oh

So, I thought I would just use a random photo that is on the computer already but my folders are all mixed up - nothing is where it was so it may be a little longer before I can get a picture posted. I need my tech guy to put my shortcuts back! Maybe I can catch him over the weekend.

Back to 2012 - pictureless post. :(

Do you back up your hard drive? I know all the bloggers that are using their blogs to make money do, but just the everyday, just for fun, not running a business off of it kinda computer person, like me. Let me just say - do as I say, not as I do - or don't do as in this case.
Sometime overnight Tues/Wed last week, my hard drive crashed. I knew something was wrong as soon as I hit the top of the stairs because I could hear something clicking (my computer runs super quiet). The last thing you want to see before you even have your first cup of coffee is a black screen with the words 'no boot drive available' splashed across it.
This is relatively new computer - not in tech years but in $$ years - we bought it in April 2012. My super computer guru (aka: Timothy) came down for a few days and helped me set it up - okay maybe not so much helped, he kinda just did it. Transferred everything I needed from my old computer to the new one and when everything was in place and working he backed it up on an external hard drive. Unfortunately that drive has been sitting on top of the computer since April 2012 collecting dust. He stayed up last night until midnight reinstalling everything off that disk. So I have pretty much everything I had up until that point,. No pictures from that date forward until I install my camera software and download pictures again. Thankfully when my memory chip in the camera gets full, I just buy a new one and save the old one so any photos that I took will still be there but anything I got from someone else is probably lost forever.
Might be awhile before I get another post up, but I'm still here!

Last but not least

Finally, quilt number four. This was probably the one that was the most fun to make. I used a pattern from a magazine (if I knew where my notes were, I would tell you which one it was) 

I don't remember the mfg of this fabric but I do know the name of it is 'Curtain Call' which I thought was perfect for baby boy's bride since she is a stage manager. 

I thought I took more pictures of the fabric I used but I'm not finding them - you should be able to click n the top picture and see them better. I used the same cream on the back as I used for the corner of the snowball blocks. I also added a special little note on the back just for her.

Hope you are having a good week. It is much warmer here this week but it is super windy. Not complaining, just stating the facts. The warmer temps are most welcome since I've had to be out and about a lot this week. Now I'm going to see if I can get an hours worth of sewing in before hubby gets home - just gotta remember I have 'tater soup cooking and check on it now and then.
