Do you have a favorite?

I don't know why but I've always loved yellow houses. They just look happy to me.

Our first house wasn't yellow (we were just happy to have a house) and our second didn't start out that way (it was gray when we bought it - again, just happy to find a house we could afford) but when we left it, it was yellow with a big front porch and back deck.

Our last house was yellow but finding a house that wasn't brick wasn't easy. We had a tiny front porch and we added the back patio after we bought it.

The porch on this house called my name. It wasn't yellow (all beige, walls, trim, ceiling and columns) but I knew I could paint it - I just wasn't sure if it was going to work with yellow. I didn't really see it as a yellow house but I finally found one I thought would maybe work.

Banana Cream on the house, Alabaster on the trim, and Hinting Blue on the ceilings.

I was nervous, I don't know why. I'm usually pretty certain once I pick a color. I've only gone wrong once - I painted our bedroom (in house #2) yellow but it showed up with a green tint so I repainted it the next day.
As soon as they started spraying the first wall, I knew I was right!
I love it!
Now if it will just cool off enough to light that fireplace!
Have a great weekend!

Another direction

I was going to show some painting progress pictures today, then baby boy's bride posted this picture on Facebook yesterday. It is such a good picture of them I couldn't resist sharing.
I miss them.

The Blue Door

Had the house painted last week. I need to get out and take some photos but I did snap this pic while the door was drying yesterday. It's kinda blue. I've had dark green and a red that leaned more towards maroon so to be different I went for blue this time.

Neighborly

The neighbors across the street came by yesterday to welcome us to the neighborhood! They brought flowers! Lantana, one of my favorites. (It looks kinda wilted in this photo but it really isn't.) Now to find a place to plant it - and weed the flowerbeds.

Hope you are all having a great week. I'm still living in box-land.

So, I've been a little busy

We finally closed on our new home!

We closed last Wednesday and immediately started working. We pulled carpet and put new flooring down over the weekend. Movers came on Monday and moved all the big stuff. (took two trips and seven hours!) Then hubby and I made several more trips with our cars filled to the brim. The bushes have been trimmed but I haven't had a chance to get a picture since then so I'm showing this one for now.
It's like walking through a maze to get anywhere in here and the garage is still full of furniture that can't come in the house until some of these boxes get unpacked. I worked on the boxes in the kitchen this week - there were a lot of them! I've got one box left in there but I can't unpack it yet as I have nowhere to put the stuff. I have no idea how many boxes and totes I've unpacked but I've filled four, 39 gallon trash bags (stuffed full) of packing paper and bubble wrap.
I'll try to post some pictures later but not much time for blogging with so much unpacking to do.
I'm getting too old for this!

Hope you are getting to enjoy the long weekend - I'll be unpacking boxes!
