Life

Well, I have neglected this little blog. Did I say I would have stitching to show next time? Yes. Do I? No, I do not. I do have a couple of finishes from last month but I haven't even taken pictures of them and I definitely have not fully finished them. I have only taken a few stitches since Thanksgiving.

There has been a lot of water under the bridge since I was last here. There were out of town trips, visitors, surgeries, physical therapy, home improvement projects started but not yet finished. (We should not start projects in the middle of holiday decorating) It has been a bit busy. I have not even taken my usual tree tour photos this year.

Right slap in the middle of everything going on, on December 15, my brother-in-law passed away. Totally unexpected. My sister and nieces are taking it one step at a time.

I swiped this photo from my sister's Facebook page. It's from a couple of years ago.

There is never a good time for something like this, but it seems to be magnified when it happens at Christmas.

And because that isn't enough, dear daughter-in-law tested positive for Covid on Wednesday. They were supposed to come for Christmas after missing last year (when hubby had Covid) - then on Christmas night she ended up in the ER with a collapsed lung. (Most likely not caused by Covid but exasperated by it) She is supposed to have a procedure to reinflate the lung this morning but we do not know what time.

It's been a lot.

I will get photos before the decorations are put away (I did take a few Christmas Eve but they are not on this computer yet) and pictures of the stitchy finishes - maybe I will even get them fully finished.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
I would say that we are looking forward to the new year but it seems like when I say that it is taken as a challenge and the last three years have been challenging enough.

Until next time...

We were booed!

Someone decorated our yard the other day!

It's a fund raiser for one of the schools (drill team)
I wanted to keep it but hubby paid them to move it to someone else's yard, so it should be moved today or tomorrow.

This is a before picture of the outside lighting on the front of the house.
The fixtures were quite faded and just blended into the rock. The one on the left was broken after whacking both hubby and I in the head one too many times. (squeezing between the house and the bushes that there before the freeze in February - weeding, mulching, whatever)

The backplate on the new sconces was one inch shorter and 1/4 inch wider than the old ones, should be easy enough, right? Should fit right into the space that had been chipped out for the previous ones. Wrong. Hubby had to chip out both sides. What should have been a morning project ended up taking all day! (can you ever do a project without having to make at least one trip back to the hardware store? Nope. One of the lights was broken. Thankfully they had one to exchange it for!)

Anywho - I think they look much better. Now to figure out what to do in that flowerbed.
Anyone have any suggestions for keeping the squirrels out? Dang things bring pecans from across the street and bury them, then make huge holes when they come back for them.

Have you decorated for fall yet?

I should have some stitching to show next time!

Two more September Birthdays!

I'm barely getting these two in before the end of the month!

Brittany's birthday was the 20th so I'm a little late and Brian's is today so I'm slipping that one in by the skin of my teeth.

Wish we could have been there to celebrate with you!

Happy birthday!!!

First of three birthdays this month!

Well, I just kinda disappeared after posting all those vacation photos.
It's been busy! A little stitching, but very little. I hope to get back to it soon but we have a birthday to celebrate today!

Happy birthday to my sweetheart!

Road Trip - Final Stretch!

Our final 'tourist' stop was The Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita

Interesting tid-bits.

I wish I could get my hands on a cabinet like that!

Saw something on tv the other day about people who still ride those big wheel  bikes!

He came prepared! LOL

Ugh!

He's a Texas boy!

Round trip for dad.
We still had to load our stuff in my car and drive another 30 miles home.

Now to plan the next one!
