The Birthday Girl

Tomorrow is this beautiful girl's birthday. I can't let the day pass without saying how proud I am of the woman she has become.
The best part is how much she loves my baby boy.
We couldn't love you any more if you had been born into this family and we are grateful you joined us by choice.
Have a wonderful birthday!

A little stitching

I've managed a little stitching lately.

Terry and I did a little stitch-a-long on this cutie (ignore the wrinkles) I think she is going to frame hers. I will probably make mine into an ornament.

I pulled this off the stand to roll it out for a look - I really need to spend more time stitching on it. I was going to get a yard stick out so you could see how big it is but I forgot to do it before I took the picture, but it is 22 3/4" square.

This is a pretty good shot of what the colors actually look like (or it shows up on my screen that way)

Not much else going on. Picked paint colors for the bedroom but not sure when we will get the chance to paint.
I put my fall stuff out (I don't have much) but I haven't taken any pictures yet. Maybe I will get to those in the next post.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

A little of this, a little of that.

Yes, it's been awhile.

Seems like I'm always busy, but I don't seem to have much to show for it.

I had a bit of a hard time deciding on a color for the kitchen.

I sampled a few colors and ended up going with. . .

Banana Cream, which just so happens to be the same color we painted the outside of the house.

After trying the samples we thought it just looked better if we primed first so the kitchen basically has three coats of paint on the walls. I'm still planning to paint the bar/island with a blue/gray. Might work on that this weekend.

I forgot to take a before picture of the laundry room but just imagine this room being the same color as the before picture of the kitchen. (all but two of the rooms in the house are that same color) That door on the right goes into the living room.

I wish I could come up with the name of this green but it isn't coming to me right now and my sample chips are in the other room. That door leads to the back entry - garage is to the left, the doorway you see is the powder room. You can see the sun coming in from the side door on the right and then the kitchen is also to the right.

Still have pictures to hang in both rooms but haven't decided what I'm going to out back up and where I'm going to put them.

Thought I had decided on a color for the living room but after I put a sample up on the wall near the ceiling I decided I didn't like the two colors together and I don't want to paint the ceiling so . . .

I have managed to get in a stitch here and there. Had to take out some and restitch so it's not as far along as it could be.

We had a visit from the middle kidlet a couple of weeks ago. Desktop computer crashed and he came in on a Saturday and fixed it for us. Cutest tech support around. He couldn't stay the night but we took him out for a steak dinner before he headed home.

Have a new project to start on Monday. Terry and I are going to do a little stitch-a-long.

Other than that, just more of the same old stuff.

Happy stitching!

Randomness

Well, hello there! It's been awhile since I've been here. What's been going on around here? It's been hot but it really could be hotter for this time of year in Texas.

I've been to Canton a couple of times and on one trip I bought these (unfinished) crosses. Finally got around to painting them. Glued them together, attached a paper flower and I've got it hanging on a shutter that is propped up by the fireplace for now.

For my birthday, hubby took me to Waco to see The Silos.

Birthday - had to get cupcakes!

Got some pretty fabrics (thanks Terry!)

Last weekend the girlfriends and I went to a quilt show in Huntsville. I managed to resist the fabrics but 3 Stitches had a booth there and I couldn't pass up this limited edition kit.

Now I just need to stitch it and sew it up. That will be a tricky one - haven't touched my sewing machine since March.

I was coming home the other day and noticed how big these plants have gotten. They are bonus plants - it looked like an empty spot when we moved in so I planted some hostas there but you can't see them from the street side now. (I can see them looking out the side door, it's just out of sight on the left side of this picture)

Getting ready to start doing some painting. I think we are going to start with the kitchen but I'm a little undecided on the color. I'm torn between yellow and blue. I've had yellow kitchens in my last two houses and loved them. If I paint the walls yellow I will probably paint the bar area blue (it is currently stained and the rest of the cabinets are white with a glazed finish) I may paint some swatches on the wall this weekend so I can ponder on it.

Okay - got things to do.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fore!

Several years ago, the bowl for this birdbath met an untimely death (due to a critter chasing dog). I kept the base, not really knowing what I would do with it. Last week I found this gazing ball on the cheap.
It looks like a golf ball.

RIP Autumn

We lost Autumn on Father's Day.
She had a long life and was well loved. After all these years it is odd not having her watching every bite of food we put in our mouths. She loved to eat and anxiously waited for any morsel to hit the floor - sometimes it didn't even hit the floor!
We miss her but I'm sure she has her vision and hearing back and is happily chasing tennis balls again.
