Dee-nied, again.

This is kinda long so I totally understand if you just want to move on to a blog that has a more positive thing to say, or a cute project to share.

So, this is what we had to work with when we moved in.

We have not modified the size or shape of the bed, but we went along the original border

We put my 'porch house' there - most;y to figure out where we wanted it. 20 days after we received a letter from the HOA stating that we had not requested permission for the large wood and glass structure on the porch. We filled out the paper work but I think they already stamped NOPE on it and were just waiting for it to come back across their desk.

So we moved the 'offending' structure to the back yard and tried to make something out of nothing. I don't think the bed had ever been tended to at all. To fill in some blank spots until we could something planted - I used my blue bottles as a make-shift bottle bush. I took special care that they not be taller than the bushes. I also have some 'tinkling toad stools - I just love those little things but apparently doesn't and we got a letter stating that we hadn't asked permission for modification. So we printed the property modification off the website, filled it out and took pictures. They replied with a letter saying we hadn't used the correct form (it was the one from their own website. So, we used the form they sent and turned it back in - denied again. (yes. I know the lantana needs to be pruned but it is already putting pretty leaves)

Where do you stand on garden art? I love it a and think it helps add individual character that can otherwise look just like every street. I'm not talking about 'modifying' anything structural - I'm just planting a thing in my flower bed to tide over to planting season - though at the moment I'm thinking I won't be planting anything.

This is the front view when we got the latest letter.

This is the front view today. Hey didn't mention the gazing ball, mini flag or shepherds hook so the are staying until I hear differently.(nothing hanging on them at the moment)
here is my temporary mushroom garden - I pulled those babies up and put them on the back side where you can't see them at all from the street - the only way you can see them is to standing on my front porch.
Take that, HOA.

I promise next time I post it will be something fun.
enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy Valentines Day!

I thought I would show you this little finish. The stitching was done a long time ago (it is a Secret Needle night from The Silver Needle)

I used Vonna's tutorial as a loose guide while I still kinda did my own thing. I actually own one of Vonna's finished pieces (a gift from a friend) and she does awesome work so if you have something to be finished head over and take a look!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Over one

Sorry about the wonky picture but I just don't have it me to take another one. I had this hairbrained idea to stitch this over one, when did my eyes get so bad? it hasn't been ironed yet but I'm going to mount it on a little wooden box and it will be a gift. I might stitch it again sometime, but not over one!
That's about all going on around here except for this "Mom's got to brag" moment

http://www.jasonzednick.com/

I hope that comes up as a link - I still haven't had time to figure out this new blogger! If that doesn't come up as a link type it in and see baby boy's web page. I keep going to look at it because I still can't believe that my BABY is in New York.

Hope you have a great week.

Just a note

Thought I would pop in and say hello

The girlfriends and I didn't get together until after Christmas so I thought I would show you all my goodies.

Love these socks! They are so soft. We pick up little things like this through the year to add to our bag 'o goodies.

Sarah did good! She gave both of us a flimsy! Pretty, ain't it? The same colors that are in my sewing room. I've got it on my breakfast table, I've got a few more pins to get in before I decide if I am going to hand quilt or machine quilt.
I'm still pondering the whole blogging thing but I did have to go in and turn that awful word thingie back on - I'm sorry if you don't like them. I hate them too, but I was getting too much spam.

See ya soon!

Happy New Year

It seems like the new blogger and I aren't going to get along very well. :(

I tried to upload pictures first and couldn't figure it out, then I wrote a post and hit preview but couldn't get back to the dashboard to publish it and now it seems to be lost in space somewhere - I'm afraid to preview this one so I'm going to post and hope for the best.

Anyway - I really just wanted to stop by and say Happy New Year before it seems like it is too late to say it and to thank Donna in WV for the ornamaents (assuming the photos actually publish). I'm still working my way through some personal issues and I haven't decided if I want to get back to blogging. First I have to see if I can figure this new blogger format stuff out. If you have any tips, please send them my way!

Remember - no preview so ignore any typos!

Oh - and  Happy New Year
